Summary
Often called the "Delaware of the Caribbean", Nevis
is rapidly becoming a jurisdiction of choice for offshore
entities. Legislation based on the Delaware Act, a modern
communications and service infrastructure, very strong privacy
considerations and close proximity to the US combine to make
Nevis increasingly more attractive. Confidentiality is assured
with no public filing of the identities of stockholders (or
members in the case of LLCs.) Company formation in Nevis is
cost-effective and quick.
The type of company used for international trade (which does
not do business in Nevis) is known as an Offshore Exempt Company
(similar to an IBC.) Limited Liability Companies (legislation
is based on the Delaware act) are also available. The LLC
legislation was drafted with the US tax code in mind so Nevis
LLCs can comply fully with US requirements to qualify as a
partnership for tax purposes.
